With the late Summer and Fall hurricane season in full force and the New England Winter approaching, now is a good time to be thinking about planning for a disaster. It is also a great time for families and individuals to be considering how to protect their most treasured memories – their photos and photo albums. Photos contain memories that could never be replaced if they were ruined in a disaster if they are not backed up or digitized.
Our photos contain our precious memories, they are our stories without words. It is important to tell the stories about those photos before the stories and the people are gone. But if these photos are hiden away in boxes and bins or old albums then their stories could be lost forever.
For all these reasons, September has been designated as Save Your Photos Month!
To learn more about why it is important to preserve your photo legacy and how to get started, please stop by one of my events in September.
Colebrook Village in Hebron, CT on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 7:00 pm. I will be talking about:
- Why it is important to tell our stories
- How to use our photos to tell our stories including organizing and digitizing strategies
- Backup methods
- Options for sharing our photos and their stories
Something Simple in Hebron, CT on Thursday, September 20, 2018 between 11am and 1pm. I will have handouts to share and will be scanning photos. You can bring up to 20 photos for me to scan and digitize that day and I will return them to you via Dropbox or bring a flash drive.
